Next year's animal zodiac sign is 'The Snake.' White snakes have been admired as a water deity and as the incarnation of Benzaiten (the goddess of wellness) in Japan. Snakes depicted on furoshiki are inspired by a snake-shaped folk toy made of bamboo. Snake faces appear when wrapping.
