Katazome refers to a Japanese technique of resistance dyeing developed in Kyoto in the 20th century, primarily used for kimono and other fabric design. These richly colored papers are printed by hand, one color at a time, using persimmon-dyed kozo as the stencils, and aided by paste and "Kojiro" (soy bean juice), the pigments absorb deeply into the paper to produce long-lasting color.
This pattern is assorted, dark colorful fans on green and blue maple leaves or light colorful fans with green and light green on a white background. Each sheet measures 24 in x 36 in, 60 gsm and has a non-printed border with 4 deckle edges.
