FLORENCE TEMKO was known internationally for her expertise in paper arts and folk crafts. She was the author of more than fifty how-to craft books with more than 2.5 million copies in print, and had presented hundreds of hands-on programs in schools, universities, libraries, and museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She had traveled in thirty-one countries and had appeared many times on television. She had contributed to the New York Sunday Times, the Boston Globe, and other newspapers and magazines. She lived in San Diego, California, where she was a consultant to the Mingei International Museum.
