Fine handmade art paper laminated onto a hard board backing edged with a strip of gold paper. Typically used for for sumi-e, painting, calligraphy, etc.

Gasen is a very resilient pulp-based paper, lightly sized to allow finer detail for ink painting, watercolor, Suminagashi (Japanese marbling), calligraphy, and block printing.

Hosho paper is a thick, strong paper with a smooth finish typically used for official documents, sketching and painting. Not sized.
